Connect a Linux VM without sharing SSH credentials
The connector model removes the most fragile part of a remote setup: storing or forwarding SSH credentials. You install it from inside the VM, where the account token and project path are configured locally.
What the installation needs
The VM needs Node.js 22 or later, Codex CLI logged in for the Linux user, and a project directory. The connector uses an outbound HTTPS connection, so no inbound port is required.
- Node.js 22 or later
- Codex CLI available to the service user
- A readable project directory
- Outbound access to the gateway over port 443
Run the installer inside the VM
The dashboard generates an account-scoped command. Run it in the VM and paste the one-time token when requested. The installer discovers Codex and asks for the absolute project path on that machine.

The service requires an absolute project path. Use a path such as /home/ubuntu/project, not a quoted placeholder or a relative directory. Re-run the installer with the correct local directory and inspect the user service status.
